Hi, Abrahamic Reunion – I’m thrilled to be joining the AR family!
To those I haven’t had the pleasure of meeting or chatting with yet, I am Macey Markowitz, the new Development Officer. I’m originally from Toronto, Canada– Go Raptors!
I obtained my undergraduate degree in Criminology with a minor in French Studies from York University in Toronto Canada. I also have my master’s degree in Critical Disability Studies from York University and wrote my thesis on a holistic approach to ADHD. Upon graduation, I was working with young adults with special needs (specifically dual diagnosis-autism, cerebral palsy, down syndrome, and schizophrenia).
Like many of us, I fell into the fundraising field and have spent the last 15 years as a successful development professional working with a variety of nonprofits to achieve their revenue goals. I enjoy collaborating with people of varying backgrounds, ages, and beliefs to work toward common goals. I’m not afraid to ask for money (in fact I love it). I have proven success in generating revenue for annual budgets of $250,000-$25.5M and have secured major/planned gifts/grants ranging from $5,000-$2M.
My first trip to Israel was in 2008 when my sister and I participated in Birthright. We had the opportunity to meet our family who made Aaliyah from South Beach Miami and moved to Ma’ale Adumim. That trip was life-changing, and after that I went on 6 more subsidized trips including one with Chabad and one with Aish Hatorah.
I am dedicated to the mission of peace in Israel and am honored to be a part of an organization that is working to do just that.
I look forward to meeting and being in touch with you all!
Macey Markowitz
