Hi everyone,
I’m David Less, I’m the Chairman of the Board of the Abrahamic Reunion. We’ve been working to bring peace in the Holy Land for almost 20 years now, and I must say 2020 was a pretty wild year.
We had the pandemic, we still do unfortunately, and we’ve learned to do a lot on Zoom and online that we never did before. There was a bit of a silver lining in that we could reach out and bring people together who couldn’t quite come together before because of either difficulties of borders or other problems in transportation. So what’s happening now is we are feeling fully revitalized, oddly enough, from this unusual year, and we’ve been having some pretty good successes.
We’ve been working with young people, there’s a whole youth program that is on training new peacebuilders, and that’s a wonderful thing that’s happening. People who definitely could have gone down another path, young people, are now learning how to facilitate meetings and gatherings to bring about peaceful understanding.
We’re really testing the contact hypothesis, bringing people together who have never met, who are on different sides of the border, so to speak, and to see what happens, and they’re opening up, they’re really changing. We’re getting wonderful feedback. We’re bringing religious leaders together, we have all kinds of women’s programs, and as I said, programs for younger people.
So it’s been an interesting year, and in 2021 we’re starting the Foundations of Peace program. We’re going to start training peacebuilders to really change the consciousness that peace is not only possible but peace is preferable.
So this is our work, we’ve actually gotten stronger in 2020, and we need your help as always. We need your help financially: it’s costing more and more money because we’re bringing in more and more people. A lot of the people in our programs aren’t really able to support the program in a major way financially but they give their heart and souls, so can we help them out, sure we can.
It’s coming to the end of the year and I know some of you have been great supporters and we’re deeply grateful, and if you haven’t, even if it’s a small donation, give something now, it’s working towards peace.
