w/ Dr. Jacob Cohen, Abood Cohen, David Less, & Sheikh Ghassan Manasra
Catch up on our conversation with Dr. Jacob Cohen (Samaritan Legends Association) and Abood Cohen (Open Peace Podcast) from the Samaritan Community.
We were treated to a walk through Samaritan history, religious practices, heard Samaritan prayers chanted, Abood sang a song in Ancient Hebrew, and so much more.
“It’s my prayer, all the time, as a Samaritans prayer also, to pray peace for all the world – not just for Palestinian region – but for all the world.” – Dr. Jacob Cohen
“Something unique for me and my family — I can go by the family tree back to Moses – so I can go back 3,600 years, by name, and by history.”

Talking to a modern Samaritan
The Samaritans have long partnered with Abrahamic Reunion in peacebuilding efforts.
We held an hour of discussion, photos, and Q&A with Dr. Jacob Cohen, , Sheikh Ghassan Manasra, AR International Director, and David Less (US Board Chair).
Last December, the Abrahamic Reunion partnered with the Samaritan Legends Association to sponsor and produce The Samaritans Conference 2021 in Nablus.
This conference featured speeches and appearances from local leaders including the Governor of Nablus, Archimandrite Julilie, and many others, and was a major outreach effort to build community with the Samaritan Community in the West Bank.
The Samaritans are one of the smallest religious minorities in the world, with only 800 ethno-religious members. Who are the Samaritans, and what is their place in the efforts to build peace in the Holy Land? How did the Samaritans Conference impact relations for the Samaritans? How did it shift the local landscape? Where do we go from here?
